Born: July 18, 1918

Nelson Mandela during the 1940's was inprisoned with other black african americans for there race. He was young, and his pleasures were listening to music of Handel or Tchaikovsky and watching the sunset.

Nelson Mandela spent over 27 years in a South African Prison. He was released in 1990 at the age of 72 years old and went right into his political life.

While in the prison he was on a rough and percise schedule.

  • 4:30 a.m.- wake up

After this was completed they would start the days work. This lasted 12 hours of the day and was to be completed in a good, efficient amount of time.

When Nelson Mandela was released from this prison he became the President of the National Congress. Then later he was elected President of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela was a very important politial figure in South Africa. He was the first black leader in a country that is over 80% African American, and showed this small country what they could be. He has been honored with many different award including The Nobel Peace Prize.
