Nelson Mandelas Presidency
in 1991 Nelson Mandela was elected president of the National Congress. After 3 more years, blacks were allowed to vote and Nelson became president of South Africa. In 1995 South Africa held the Rugby world cup and President Mandela wore the Springbok jersey for the capital of the South African Rugby team. This was seen as a major step in uniting the whites and the blacks in South Africa. After many years he was apointed a matitor in the civil war, and exactly one year later developed prostate cancer. In 2004, he announced his retierment publicaly. Also in 2004, he gave a speak at an AIDS Conference. Nelson inspired many great people. Then in 2005, Nelsons son, Makgotho Mandela died of AIDS.
